Ben Jutting (K0BJJ)

The Early Years

Growing up in a small Winnebago County, Iowa town, Ben, at a young age was taught the importance of giving back to the community. Son of schoolteacher and a city maintenance worker he saw the impact and importance of taking care of his fellow neighbor. Ben attended and graduated North Iowa Community Schools in 2008 and later Hawkeye Community College in 2010 with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Police Science. Ben's desire to give back meant everything to him including giving up his life for his community if the situation called for it. 

The Social Start

During the height of the Covid 19 pandemic while working security out at the Altoona Facebook (Meta) Data Center in Altoona, Iowa. Ben's need to give back hit him again. After a critical injury left him disabled and eliminated his chance to become a police officer in the state of Iowa early on in his security career days. Certified Service was out of reach, and he became a certified National Weather Service Storm Sporter. It was also at this time he became a ham radio operator under the call KF0AHN. When Ben got this General License, he also got the vanity call K0BJJ and started a YouTube Channel called "Spotter Jutting Amateur Radio" to document his journey in storm spotting and amateur radio. His first official "spot" was the August 10, 2020, derecho that devastated the Midwest.  Ben later decided that one channel for two so tight nit subjects wasn't such a smart idea.  So, he rebranded and "K0BJJ Amateur Radio", and "K0BJJ Storm Chasing" were born. After nearly a year, he got tired of being restricted to only two types of content and created "The Juttings" in 2024. "The Juttings" is Bens' all-around "fun" YouTube channel where you can find all his adventures not related to Armature Radio and Storm Chasing.
